Community on Hulu

Pop, Pop American Communists! Great news if you want to support Community during the ~hiatus~ Sony has struck a deal to show all episodes to date on Hulu Plus! This is a great opportunity to show our love for the show, so if you happen to live in the States, I suggest rewatching Community on Hulu Plus for the next few months rather than on DVD or DVR, that way you'll still be able to make a difference :)

Sony and Hulu Plus have just struck a deal to offer all three seasons of the show in syndication via the premium streaming service, thus keeping the beloved series alive online during its midseason hiatus, while also demonstrating to Sony and NBC that it’s a property viewers are interested in watching, and that networks—if even just the digital ones right now—are interested in buying. Starting today, Hulu Plus subscribers can watch everything from the pilot episode up to last night’s “Foosball And Nocturnal Vigilantism,” while users of the free site can access the five most recent episodes.

Hulu made the announcement in a blog post...pointing out that Community remains one of the site’s Top 20 shows of all time in terms of viewership, and that it took top honors in the “Best Of Show” competition two years in a row... Meanwhile, in other good news, Community’s ratings went up for the second week in a row, matching its season high
 with a 1.7 share.

Hey there,

I'm Canadian too and you can watch Hulu easily using Hotspot Shield. http://hotspotshield.com/

It's free software that makes it look like your IP is in the US, so Hulu will stream to you. Works fine for me. I use it to let my Community playlist stream while I'm away.

The hotspot shield is awful. It slows your computer down like crazy you get all kinds of pop ups.

I'm going to go against my very nature here by being extremely optimistic about this. Even if Hulu doesn't count towards ratings, the fact that Sony will make money off this deal and this money will probably be used, or at least I would imagine, to create more Community and/or help lower costs for future episodes. Also, it shows that enough people obviously watch it online for Hulu to bank on the fact that people will sign up for Hulu plus just to watch it. So, yay! Happy news.

When will the networks learn that a majority of the 18 - 35 demographic they work so hard for don't own a TV. I know at school all I have is my computer and the only way to watch community was to watch it online. And I'd say 95% of friends were in the same boat.
